Her Story

Her Story

Chacelyn was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in her left eye when she was 9 months old. At 10 months old, she underwent surgery to remove her eye.

After surgery, Chacelyn and her family traveled to MD Anderson every three months for eye exams under general anesthesia until she was 7 years old. Each exam brought the fear that the cancer might have returned.

Thankfully, it never did.

Chacelyn as a baby during treatment

“As a mom, there is nothing that can prepare you for hearing the words ‘your child has cancer,’ especially when your baby is barely old enough to understand the world around her.”
